“Amfufu!”

Sorry I can’t stop my self from writing it haha. It seems that Ang Ladlad party has found allies from within other party list groups seeking equality from discrimination and support for the upcoming 2010 national election.

Alyansa ng Media at Showbiz Inc. proposed the putting up of “gay toilets” in government offices and commercial establishments. They pointed out that through this exclusive toilets, discrimination among gays and lesbians would be minimized.

“Ramdam nila ang diskriminasyon kung kaya’t minarapat naming imungkahi ang pagpapatayo ng ‘gay toilets’,” Leo Martinez, AMS nominee said.

“Nasasa-tao iyan kung saan siya kumportable sa apat na toilet,” Martinez said.

Under the proposed system, a “gay male” and “gay female” would be constructed in government offices and in commercial establishments like malls and cinemas.

“Naniniwala kami na sa pamamagitan ng panukalang ito, marami ang makikinabang. Hindi natin maitatanggi na ang mga kapatid nating bakla at tomboy ay kasama rin nating gumagalaw sa ating malayang lipunan,” said another nominee Rolly “Lakay” Gonzalo.

Aren’t they comfortable with the existing toilet room for male and female? I wonder in what way the existing system would discriminate gays and lesbians as they are still fully capable of using the existing toilets.

In my opinion, they should rather educate the public that “gay” is still male and “lesbian” are still female but in contrasting emotion and mood that should be respected. I do not agree of them separating from that basic realm of man and woman.

Each candidates vying for position in the government masquerades themselves with lots of propaganda. Some says true while some lies.

Susan “Toots” Ople is one of the many candidates that tries knocking on our door. Asking for our vote and support for the coming 2010 national election.

Here’s one good article from The Manila Times, telling about the legacy of her father, the late Senator Blas Ople and the legacy she would like to continue.

During her younger days, much was said about her father’s brilliance. But it wasn’t the accolades that made her believe in him. It wasn’t his fame or the number of labor leaders who crowded their breakfast table every morning seeking his wisdom. For Susan “Toots” Ople—daughter of the late Senate President, the journalist, advocate of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and problem solver extraordinaire Blas Ople—it was a moment of simplicity in their private family life that revealed her father’s greatness.

“Back in my youth,” she told The Manila Times, “brain teasers were very famous. They were those metal toys you would use to form shapes and stuff. I bought one for my self but I couldn’t figure it out.”

“One time,” she continued, “while my dad was having a serious conversation with a few people, I approached him and said ‘Amang, how do you form this?’ He borrowed it for less than a minute and without even getting distracted from whatever it was they were talking about, he was able to solve it.”

Last week I posted the most recent SWS survey which showed decreasing gap of voter’s preference to presidentiables Noynoy Aquino and Manny Villar. From that survey, Aquino’s lead over Villar is down by 11%, a steep decline from 19%.

Surprisingly, Aquino wasn’t satisfied with the result and even remarked that Villar’s camp fabricated the result in their favor. Even describing it as “nabibili sa Quiapo”.

Noynoy’s spokesman later clarified his statement saying that it was not the Social Weather Station that he’s talking about.

Here’s an article I read at Business World Online that talks about the same remark.

Surely, there must be something mentally dishonest about dismissing an SWS presidential poll as “nabibili sa Quiapo” after trumpeting the very same poll when it was reporting you in a commanding lead in the months earlier. Actually, the latest SWS poll — the December 27-28 one — still shows Mr. Aquino’s 44% voter base basically unchanged, but it also shows Mr. Villar’s growing to 33%, putting him within striking distance. What this confirms is that it’s really just a two-man race.

Of course, one risks getting trampled by the yellow army if one were to actually call Mr. Aquino mentally dishonest. Let’s therefore just say that his handlers — in some inexplicable lapse — simply neglected to prepare a reply for him to a foreseeable question so that he was forced to produce an answer all by himself. It probably did not occur to him that impugning the integrity of the Social Weather Stations then raises doubt about the voter support that SWS surveys also report him to have. “Nabili din kaya ’yun sa Quiapo?” is a legitimate follow-up question.

Here’s a news report from GMA 7 where they show Noynoy Aquino making the remark.

Today, Inquirer.net published the latest result of SWS survey which showed presidential candidate Manny Villar improving his ratings by 6%. Villar’s rating is now at 33%, narrowing Noynoy’s lead down to 11%.

It’s a good news for Villar’s camp and supporters as this proves that Noynoy’s wide lead is not invincible.

We might soon see a very close fight between the two leading presidential candidates as election day comes close.

Here’s an excerpt of the news from Inquirer.net

The lead of Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno Aquino III over his nearest rival, Sen. Manny Villar, of the Nacionalista Party has been narrowed to 11 percent, according to a recent Social Weather Stations survey commissioned by a Villar ally.

Aquino was the choice of 44 percent of 2,100 respondents across the country in the SWS special yearend survey conducted from Dec. 27 to 28, 2009.

Villar obtained 33 percent, narrowing the gap with Aquino to 11 percent, and improving his ratings from the 27 percent he got in the earlier Dec. 5-10 SWS survey.

The survey was privately commissioned by House Minority Leader San Juan Rep. Ronaldo Zamora, a Villar ally, and was released to Senate reporters by Villar’s office.

Before anything else, I would like to greet everyone a happy new year. Hoping that this new decade, 2010, brings more fulfillment into our life and we’d be able to make a better positive impact to friends, families, co-workers and to all the people around us.

Susan “Toots” Ople is the youngest daughter of the late Senator Blas Ople. Though her father already passed away, the virtue of humbleness and servanthood has been passed to his family especially to her who continued her father’s commitment of helping OFWs.

Recently, Susan Ople was convinced to run as senator under the banner of Senator Manny Villar’s Nacionalista Party. Hoping to win a seat in the magic 12 though like Sonia Roco, was trailing behind as shown by the recent surveys by Pulse Asia and SWS.

Before the end of last year, I was invited to attend a meeting with well known bloggers and Susan as the invited guest. I got the chance to hear some of her motives, ideologogies and desires of running as senator.

Here’s a video I shoot while Susan explains on how the government could improve employment for the filipino workers.

Before I became a blogger, a first run a community forum dedicated to gaming. Most of my members are comprised of young people and honestly, most of them are able to express their constructive opinion even if they are addicted to gaming.

One of the topic being raised in the then pRO Chaos Board was about Sonia Roco. Topic was created by one of my good member, Briar Rose, who wanted to ask everyone on why they should consider Sonia Roco. Most members participated in the discussion and expressed favorably towards Sonia.

Here’s what she wrote about Sonia Roco.

Awright kiddos, let’s talk!

I was quite cynical and my brows rose when I heard that Sonia Roco, wife of the late Sen. Raul Roco was planning to run in the 2007 Senatorial Elections. And now, according to my observations, it seems that Sonia is well-liked by the online populace when the truth is, nobody knew of her (close to being intangible ) aside from the fact that she is Raul Roco’s wife.

I have several questions to those people who voted for her (in this thread)…

If you will compare her to the other candidates; how can you say that she is much worthy of your sacred vote? Are you even aware about her political platforms and her motives for running?

Also, she is from the Ateneo and led the list of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines way back in the year 1964; which means that, Sonia is very smart but that doesn’t equal to being a good Senator, right? To sum it all up, Sonia has better credentials than other candidates but she lacks experience in the political scene and has yet to prove her capacity and competence — fine! No problem with that. But do you think that she’s in the right party? Do you think that the opposition is only using her and might give her a bad impression in the future? I doubt it if Erap knows Sonia before her bid to the Senate this year…

Okay, let’s us say she’s a good person – a wife, a mother, simple, down to earth, etc. So, aside from those qualities mentioned above, kindly give us some deeper reasons why should we vote for her. Let’s not forget that many Filipinos have this long-running belief that intelligence is somewhat marriage-transmittable (like what happened to Ninoy-Corey) but still, they are two different individuals and being the wife of a late Senator doesn’t necessarily mean that she can automatically be a Senator or a good Senator as well…so, don’t ever answer me that.

Let’s empower ourselves, okay?

Follow the discussion at pRO Chaos Board

I wonder why senators questions whether PGMA can run for congress but never question Erap’s candidacy for president. A convicted felon?! Where is the virtue? – Laureano Culala, Marikina City, Philippines

Natumbok mo pare!

Yeah, we do agree that criticism is a healthy part of our democracy. Criticism finds fault and offers improvement to the person subjected. But sometimes, critism is not funny when the sole purpose is for self interest.

It’s not a matter of correcting what is right but serving self interest through papogi at the expense of gma.

Senator Panfilo Lacson said ‘the President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo might only be “testing the waters” to see if she could impose martial law in other parts of the country, especially in areas where violence could occur in the 2010 elections.’

Often we hear politicians who are opposed to the current administration speculate various measures the president might take to stay in power, fearing that once she steps down would enable tax payers to file corruption charges against her.

If most of this corruption charges would push through then it might spell doom to President Arroyo thus, according to the opposition, the president will do anything to stay in power.

Will “no election” result in favor of the president? I guess not for the constitution specifically states that the president will have to step down after the 6 year tenure.

Senator Lacson has a point in saying that the president might use her power to declare martial law across the whole nation and nullify the power of both congress and even the constitution. She will also have the power to rewrite the constitution in her favor just as what the then President Ferdinand Marcos did to rule the Philippines for 21 years.

Bukidnon Representative Teofisto “TG” Guingona III raised the same sentiment fearing the possibility that the administration of GMA will exploit the situation in Maguindanao. For him, unlike the Martial Law imposition of President Marcos, which was done swiftly, in one blow, all over the country, there is a possibility of a “creeping” Martial Law by GMA.

On the other hand, imposing Martial Law is the most logical step the president may have chosen to tell convince each and every filipino that she is her President and she’s determined to impose the rule of the law bring order to the fragile state of Maguindanao.

Therefore the president maximized her power and make stand before the imminent worse happen.

The complexity and the abnormality of the situation and the need for swift justice for 57 brutally massacred innocent civilians would dictate an extraordinary measure. Since martial law has been declared, let it be,

Cotabato Archbishop Quevedo may have better understood the facts much better since he leaves near Maguindanao. He said that critics seemed to have not fully understood the situation in Maguindanao.

“Media and politicians from faraway Manila do not seem to be familiar with these social, political, and cultural situation in Maguindanao. They seem to think that the police and the military can easily go into an area and just arrest the suspected culprits. Even a ‘state of emergency’ did not seem adequate to cope with the situation,”

How big the possibility might be, every Filipino should be on guard to whatever development is happening now at Maguindanao. I favor the temporary imposition of Martial Law at Maguindanao for the sole purpose of quelling the lawlessness in the area. I pray that the president’s purpose would show the power, determination, and commitment of the executive to impose the law.

Hi ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my newly created and hopefully worth your time blog.

Basically, Kalvs dot Com will be a blog for general interest where I, with my utmost desire, to share my point of view regarding various topics and events that cross my radio.

Kalvs was chosen as a name for this blog for a simple reason, its easy to remember and input in your browser’s address bar. I also chose the name because my friends actually call me kalvs. So for this reasons, i have chosen Kalvs to carry my next endeavor to the world wide web.

So I hope you stay tuned and keep visiting this blog. Thanks very much guys
